Amman, (IINA) - Jordanian King Abdullah on Tuesday received European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, to follow up on the discussions the King had with top EU officials in Brussels last week, Petra News Agency reported.
During the talks held at al Husseiniyeh Palace, King Abdullah said he appreciated the support he had from various EU leaders and institutions during the Brussels trip, which reflect the deep and advanced strategic partnership between Jordan and the bloc.
They stressed the need to build on what had been achieved and translate the outcome of the Brussels talks through opening new scopes for cooperation.
The King and the EU foreign policy chief tackled developments in the Middle East and the world, with a focus on the Syrian crisis, whereas Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan's support for a comprehensive political solution to the conflict.
They also stressed the need to boost efforts to fight terrorism and terror gangs. In this context, King Abdullah strongly condemned the deadly terrorist attacks that struck the Belgian capital Brussels on Tuesday.
The EU's top diplomat reiterated the bloc's continued support to the Kingdom in various fields, lauding King Abdullah relentless efforts to promote security and stability in the Middle East, and the country's role in the war on terrorism.
