Ankara, (IINA) - At least 34 people were killed and 125 others were wounded after a car bomb exploded in the Turkish capital city of Ankara, news agencies reported.
Several vehicles were destroyed or damaged in the explosion, which took place in the Guven Park near busy Kizilay square in central Ankara. Gunfire was also heard after the blast, while ambulances rushed to the area, Daily Mail reported citing officials.
According to the Guardian, Turkish Health Minister Mehmet Muezzinoglu stated that 30 of those killed had died at the scene, while four others died in hospital. At least one or two of the dead were attackers.
He added that at least 125 people were being treated in hospitals, with 19 in a critical condition. The Ankara governor’s office also confirmed that a car bomb caused the explosion.
According to local broadcaster TRT, the car exploded near a transport hub, and the area in which it exploded has several administrative buildings in it, including the justice and interior ministries, a court and a police station.
