Ajman, (IINA) - Ajman Bank, the official Islamic Bank in the Emirate of Ajman, and the award-winning financial services institution committed to transforming the experience of Islamic banking, has received the "Innovative Solutions Award" by MasterCard, Zawya Online news reported.
The award was presented to Ajman Bank in recognition of its efforts to shift all Zakat fund transactions from cash to electronic, making it the first bank to issue Zakat Card through which Zakat funds will be distributed through cards.
The award was presented to Mr. Hisham Hammoud, Chief Business Officer of Ajman Bank by Mr. Eyad Al Kourdi - Senior Vice President and General Manager, UAE MasterCard , during an in-house award ceremony held at Ajman Bank HQ, in the presence of a number of delegates from both sides.
For his part, Eyad Al Kourdi from MasterCard commented: " MasterCard is pleased to present the "Innovative Solutions Award" to Ajman Bank to acknowledge and recognize its efforts in launching the Zakat Card, which will offer the bank's customers the convenience of managing their Zakat funds electronically through one dedicated card and moving beyond a cash-based environment. We congratulate the bank on this innovative and market-leading initiative."
Under the same context, Hisham Hammoud, Ajman Bank’s CBO commented: "We at Ajman Bank had expressed throughout the year, a well keen to innovate in the space of cards and this was highly appreciated and recognized by MasterCard." He added: "We sincerely appreciate our partnership with MasterCard and will always support their strategy and plan to create and sustain a cashless environment."
