Riyadh (IINA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Yemen Abdulmalik Al-Mekhlafi called on the United States to provide support for his government, in its efforts to fight "terrorism and extremism."
Yemen Press reported that during a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Yemen, Mekhlafi confirmed the persistence of the Houthi militias to refuse the UN resolutions and international community’s will.
He explained that the government is making great efforts in order to resolve the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism as well as the outcome of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference and the relevant resolutions of UN Security Council.
Mekhlafi added that "the putschists do not want peace and they work to carry out agenda, which jeopardizes the security and stability of Yemen and the region."
For his part, U.S. Ambassador to Yemen Matthew H. Tueller stressed that his country supports the implementation of the Security Council resolution on Yemen, adding that the U.S. also supports the Yemeni government in order to fight terrorism and strengthen cooperation in this domain.
