OIC chief Iyad Madani

Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Friday's suicide bombing on Al-Rida Mosque in Al-Ahsa, in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, which killed four and injured 18 others.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani condemned this terrorist act whose perpetrators proved their recklessness and disrespect of the principles of Islam and the lives of innocent worshipers.
Madani expressed his sincere condolences to the relatives of the dead and to the Saudi government. He praised the efforts of the security personnel who managed to prevent two suicide bombers from entering the mosque during the Friday prayers as they intercepted them before entering. One of them blew himself up at the entrance of the mosque, while the security officers exchanged fire with the other before arresting him.
The Secretary General reiterated the OIC principled position against all forms of terrorism and extremism, which have become a major threat to all member states and international peace and security. He renewed his call for the need for concerted international efforts to address the phenomenon of terrorism and violent extremism in all possible ways.
