Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak received here on Wednesday Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani, who is on official visit to Malaysia.
During the meeting, they discussed issues of mutual concern, including the peace processes in the Southern Philippines in which both the OIC and Malaysia are engaged, the situation of the Rohingya in Myanmar, peace efforts in southern Thailand, the upcoming OIC Summit in April, the OIC Emergency Foreign Ministers Meeting that is to take place this month, tourism in OIC countries and other regional developments.
Later in the day, Madani also met with Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman. Both sides discussed matters of mutual concern and global peace.
The Secretary General’s visit follows a fruitful visit to Bangkok, Thailand, an observer state of the OIC, where he met with Thailand's Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and leading Thai dignitaries. Madani also attended an international symposium on promoting multiculturalism and multi-faith coexistence, co-sponsored by the OIC-Research Centre for Islamic History, Art, and Culture (IRCICA) and the Thai Government.
