Kuwait (IINA) – Kuwaiti Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, who is also president of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature, discussed here on Tuesday with Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Dr Abdulaziz Altwaijri ways to enhance cooperation in cultural and media fields, KUNA reported.
During the meeting, Sheikh Salman said that vigorous efforts are being exerted by Kuwait to remedy the image of Islam that has been marred in recent times.
For his part, Dr Altwaijri stressed the need to work hard to show the right message of Islam towards youths through good cultural messages to counter the bad models that tarnished the tolerant image of Islam.
On a different note, Sheikh Salman pointed out that preparations are underway for the "Kuwait Capital of Islamic Culture 2016" festival, to be sponsored by Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. He said the festival has taken precedence amongst the country's top leadership.
The ISESCO chief said he is gratified to see such priority being attached to the festival, adding that ISESCO is willing to contribute in any way to ensure the success of the event.
"It is imperative that we convey the true image of Islam to the youth through cultural messages that would help undermine the elements that seek to deface Islam's pleasant image," Altwaijri said.
