Manama, (IINA) - The Kingdom of Bahrain has decided on Monday to break off its diplomatic relations with Iran and ordered the personnel of Iran's diplomatic mission and other affiliated offices in Bahrain to leave within 48 hours, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.
Bahrain has also decided to close its diplomatic mission to Iran and withdraw all members of the mission. The Kingdom announced that it will take the necessary procedures to implement the decision.
According to a statement carried by BNA, the decision came as a response to the Iranian blatant and dangerous interference in internal affairs of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and Arab countries as well.
The statement said that Iran’s interference does not respect the values, laws, morality, principles of good neighborliness, nor the laws of the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
It stressed that Iran’s support of terrorists and smuggling of weapons and explosive to terroristic cells confirmed its determination to spread devastation and destruction as well as provoking strife in the region.
Based on the Cabinet's decision, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the head of Iran’s diplomatic mission to Bahrain and handed him an official note in this regard.
