29th International Medical Convention concludes in Oman

Muscat, (IINA) - The 29th International Medical Convention, which was organized by the National Arab-American Medical Association (NAAMA) in cooperation with the Omani Medical Association, concluded here on Tuesday, Oman News Agency reported.
Some 150 participants from the members of the two associations from the Sultanate and the United States participated in the 2-day convention, which featured 21 presenters who discussed various health issues, in addition to the latest therapeutic and diagnostic methods in the disciplines of surgery, internal and children diseases, as well as mental illness.
The 2nd day sessions highlighted the valvular heart disease, especially for diabetes and kidney patients, as well as statistical expectations for obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic disorders, diabetes, pharmaceutical and surgical treatment of tumors and cancers, general and specialized surgery, children's diseases, strokes for adults, genetic cancer syndrome.
It also showcased causes of medical errors and ways to avoid them, as well as traditional medicine in the Sultanate of Oman.
The convention touched on the laryngeal reflux, the challenges facing the teaching of surgery, topics related to testosterone, as well as new challenges in the outpatient anesthesia guidelines, excessive hand sweating and congenital metabolic errors.
Dr. Mazen Sabri, President of NAAMA and Chairman of the convention, said that the conference included all specializations, and focused more on heart disease, diabetes and obesity and issues related to drugs and the attempts to get rid of medical errors, adding that many research papers from USA and 6 from the Sultanate of Oman were presented at the convention.
NAAMA, founded in 1975, is an educational and charitable non-profit, non-political organization, with about 1200 physician members, including Arab and Americans of Arab origins experts and healthcare professionals in various disciplines from all over the US.
