Blackburn town, England (IINA) - British police are now investigating into the incident of throwing severed heads of two pigs outside an Islamic school, in Blackburn town in Lancashire, England, according to media reports.
The remains were discovered at the gates of Markazul Aloom School in Blackburn. The incident is being treated as a hate crime and believed to have happened on Saturday evening.
One of the heads was left near the gates, while the other was thrown over the walls some time between Friday night and Saturday morning.
Blackburn Police have put extra patrols in the area to "offer some reassurance".
"This is being treated extremely serious and we understand the concern of incidents like this, while thankfully rare, can cause in the community," said Chief Inspector Sheena Tattum.
"An investigation is underway to identify those responsible and a team of detectives are carrying out numerous inquiries.
"We have carried out house to house inquiries in the area and done a search through CCTV and we would appeal for anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation to get in touch with us."
Abdul Hamid Qureshi, chairman of the Lancashire Council of Mosques told the BBC: "These (the students) are not people who have done any harm to anybody."
He added that the act was a "provocation and a crime".
