Officials of foreign ministries meet in Riyadh prior to GCC summit

Riyadh, (IINA) - Senior Officials from the GCC foreign ministries (Drafting Committee) began a meeting on Sunday to prepare for agenda and draft resolutions of 36th Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, which will kick off on Thursday, BNA reported.
It is expected that this meeting will discuss a number of draft resolutions on the GCC joint action in the political, security and defense fields, and all steps that contribute to maintaining the stability of the GCC, according to KUNA.
It will also be addressing a number of issues, particularly the situations in Syria, Yemen and ways to combat terrorism, in addition to the challenges facing the region.
The senior officials are expected to refer the draft resolutions and recommendations to the supplementary Ministerial Council meeting (foreign ministers) to prepare for the 36th session of the due on Monday.
The ministerial council discussed at its 136th session, which was held in Riyadh on 15 September, a number of issues, including the Palestinian issue as it welcomed the UN's decision to allow Palestine to raise its flag at the headquarters of the United Nations, condemning violations carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against Islamic and Christian holy shrines and their attempts to change places.
It stressed the right of the Palestinian people for full sovereignty for their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministerial council strongly condemned the terrorist bombings that targeted mosques in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, and blasted the terrorist acts against Bahrain recently, which claimed the lives of a number of security personnel and innocent civilians, expressing the Council's full support for the measures taken by Kuwait, Saudi and Bahrain to protect their security and ensure the safety of citizens and residents, KUNA reported.
