Jordan stresses keenness on supporting Tunisia's security and stability

Amman, (IINA) - Jordan's King Abdullah on Monday stressed his country's support to Tunisia's security and stability and provides it with the assistance it needs to deal with various challenges, Petra news agency reported.
King Abdullah's remarks came during a meeting with Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid, who heads his country's delegation to the Joint Jordanian-Tunisian higher committee meeting, which was held in Amman.
The king highlighted the need for a holistic strategy to address extremism and terrorism, and boost regional and international coordination in this regard, in order to preserve security and stability in the Middle East and the world.
The king renewed his condolences to the Tunisian prime minister over victims of the terrorist bombing that targeted the Tunisian presidential guards' bus. He also voiced his strong condemnation of such cowardly criminal acts, which require intensified efforts from various parties to address them.
During the meeting, which was held at the Al Husseiniya Palace, Abdullah praised the outstanding level of bilateral relations in various fields.
He affirmed the need to build on the results of Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi's visit to the Kingdom in October, and implement the agreements and memoranda of understanding that were signed between the two countries, in order to serve common interests of both countries.
At the meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, King Abdullah also stressed the importance of strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries, through the Joint Higher Committee meetings, especially in the energy, education, health, information technology, tourism and maritime transport fields.
The meeting tackled the latest regional developments, especially in Syria, Libya and Iraq, and ways to deal with them.
The Tunisian prime minister briefed Abdullah on the latest developments in North Africa, and Tunisia's efforts to fight terrorism and extremism.
Essid conveyed to King Abdullah the greetings of President Essebsi, stressing his country's keenness on cementing the historical fraternal relations between the two countries and peoples, maintaining coordination with Jordan and following up on the implementation of bilateral agreements in various areas.
