Socotra (IINA) – A fourth UAE relief ship carrying 750 tons of food and aid supplies arrived at the Yemeni island of Socotra to assist locals affected by Cyclone Chapala, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The ship was dispatched by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in implementation of the directives of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the follow-up of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
An official at the foundation said that the ship unloaded 450 tons of food and 300 tons of diesel fuel to help people affected by the hurricane, as part of emergency relief supplies being delivered to the area by ship and air.
Since June, the foundation has sent 16 air bridge flights carrying 615 tons of aid, and four ships carrying 10,750 tons of food and medicine supplies.
The Khalifa foundation has so far provided 11, 365 tons of urgent relief supplies to the brotherly people of Yemen.
