Muscat, (IINA) - Activities of the 1st Scientific Conference of the Oman Medical Association (OMA) commenced at the Grand Hyatt Muscat on Wednesday with participation of 400 personnel from various government and private health institutions, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
The two-day conference is being organized, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, in which 56 international instructors from UK, Austria, Germany, Malaysia and India will present their studies.
The conference aims at enhancing the joint scientific cooperation among doctors from various world countries in terms of organizing joint future conferences and practical seminars and emphasizing cooperation in various scientific research areas.
The opening ceremony of the conference was held under the auspices of Minister of Higher Education Dr. Rawya al-Busaidiyah, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Sa'eedi, minister of health, honorable members of the state council, undersecretaries, the Chairman for the Arab Medical Union (AMU) and officials in the ministry of health.
During the ceremony Dr. al-Sa'eedi praised OMA's efforts in raising health awareness on medical profession ethics among the community.
He also said that the OMA seeks to achieve its goals in cooperation with government health institutions and achieving various cooperation aspects among government health sectors in all fields.
For his part, Dr. Waleed al-Zedjali, Head of OMA noted that the OMA seeks to involve doctors who are working in the Sultanate and organizing local and international conferences and scientific workshops, as well as bringing scientific talents in a bid to contribute in raising the scientific level of the medical cadres in the country.
On the other side, Dr. Amal al-Hashimyah, head of the scientific committee said that the conference discusses four key themes namely internal medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology.
