Jeddah, (IINA) - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will hold a meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday to assess the implementation of the resolutions of the ministerial meetings that were held during the past 10 years on the role of women in the development of the member states.
The meeting will also review and improve the OIC Plan of Action for the Advancement of Women (OPAAW) which was adopted in 2008.
The OIC noted in a statement that it is expected that the outcome of this meeting will provide a comprehensive vision for the advancement of women, and the role assigned to women in the overall development process, especially in light of such challenges as illiteracy, lack of training, poor healthcare, domestic violence against women and the ongoing armed conflict and instability facing some member states.
