Dubai, (IINA) - UAE's Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Nahyan Al-Nahyan opened on Tuesday the Third International Conference on Hearing Loss organized by Kalimati Communication and Rehabilitation Center in Dubai. The theme of the conference is "Hear my voice - Education and Innovation", WAM reported.
In his opening speech, Al-Nahyan said that holding the two-day conference is in line with the UAE's vision for human development. He stressed UAE's keenness of ensuring dignified life and empowering all citizens to make unhindered an effective contribution to social progress. He said: "The leaders and people of this country agree on this vision which embodies unity, solidarity and interest in empowering all to unleash their potential".
Al-Nahyan expressed gratitude to the UAE government and the organizers of the conference for their support for the people, saying that UAE takes pride in supporting the success and welfare of each and every citizen.
It is noteworthy that the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), an international non-governmental organization, estimates that more than 80 percent of the 70 million deaf people in the world are living in developing countries, noting that the authorities are rarely familiar with their needs.
"Thanks to technological advances including social media platforms, the deaf can now work together to improve their lives and enhance their rights in all walks of life", said president of the WFD in his speech at the opening ceremony.
