Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the Friday’s bomb attack, believed to have been detonated by two suicide bombers, killing at least 28 people and injuring more others who gathered for the morning prayers near Polo Ground in Maiduguri, in the northeastern Nigerian state of Borno.
OIC Secretary General Iyad Madani expressed his sorrow at this incessant killing of mostly innocent lives in the ongoing violence in that part of Nigeria. He appealed to the perpetrators to realize the futility of such criminal acts and to bring an end to the suffering of the people in the area.
Madani expressed the OIC's strong support for the effort of the Nigerian government in its renewed campaign to defeat terrorism.
The Secretary General conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people and the government of Nigeria.
