New York, (IINA) - Kuwait's Permanent Delegate to the UN Farah Al-Gharabally said on Monday that Kuwait is ready to shoulder its regional and international responsibility regarding the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the period of 2015-2030, KUNA reported.
She underscored Kuwait's keenness on dealing with the SDGs-related issues seriously and effectively, noting that Kuwait hosted a number of high-level economic, social and humanitarian meetings and conferences with a view to fostering development and humanitarian partnerships.
She stressed her country's support to the UN in general and to the Economic and Social Council efforts to eradicate poverty, materialize SDGs and control the communicable and non-communicable diseases in particular.
It is noteworthy that Kuwait's membership term in the UN Economic and Social Council will end on December 2015, but it won a term in the Commission on Status of Women (CSW) for the period of 2016-2020. Al-Gharabally expressed gratitude to the countries that voted for Kuwait during the elections.
