Jordan, Mexico agree to boost parliamentary cooperation

Mexico City, (IINA) - Jordanian Senate President First Deputy Faisal Al Fayez on Sunday discussed with senior Mexican officials bilateral ties and ways to further boost them in various fields as well as the latest developments in the Middle East region.
The officials included Mexican Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu, Senate President Roberto Gil Zuarth, and President of the Mexican Senate's Asia-Pacific Foreign Relations Committee Teofilo Torres Corzo. The talks  also dealt with terrorism and extremism and ways of countering them. During the meeting, Al Fayez and the Mexican Senate president signed a memorandum of understanding on parliamentary cooperation between Jordan and Mexico that calls for coordinating stances on various issues of common interest.
Al Fayez,  who is currently on an official visit to Mexico, upon an invitation from the Mexican Senate president, voiced Jordan's keenness to further strengthen ties with Mexico and capitalize on the positive results of King Abdullah's visit to Mexico.
He also spoke about the challenges facing the Middle East including developments in Iraq and Syria, the continuation of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian lands as well as the influx of Syrian refugees into the Kingdom.
Al Fayez highlighted investment opportunities in the Kingdom, mainly in the energy, tourism, transport and IT fields and called on Mexican businessmen to invest in the Kingdom.
Al Fayez also met with the Mexican foreign minister and discussed with her Jordanian-Mexican ties, the latest developments in the region as well as international efforts to counter terrorism and extremism.
