Washington, (IINA) - American Secretary of State John Kerry confirmed on Sunday that he will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week in an effort to calm tensions which resulted in dozens casualties from both sides, UPI reported.
Kerry will travel to Germany to meet with Netanyahu first, he then will travel to an undetermined location in the Middle East to meet with Abbas and Jordanian King Abdullah Al-Hussein.
Speaking at a lunch in Paris at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) headquarters, Kerry noted that he will also hold a meeting to discuss the crisis in Syria during the same trip .
"Later this week, I will meet with Prime Minister Netanyahu because he will be in Germany...and then I will go to the region, I will meet with President Abbas, I will meet King Abdullah [of Jordan] and others and in between I will have some key meetings on the subject of Syria with critical players", Kerry said.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli forces shot dead more than 40 Palestinians within a month while only eight Israelis have been killed in stabbing attacks.
