Ankara, Turkey (IINA) - A Turkish fishing boat on Tuesday rescued 49 Syrian migrants off Izmir Bay in the Aegean Sea after the rubber boat, in which the migrants heading toward Greek Islands, had an engine crash midway.
Turkish Anadolu Agency stated that migrants used whistles and illuminating tools to draw the fishing boat crews’ attention, who on their part handed them to the Turkish Coast Guards.
In a related incident, Turkish gendarmerie forces stopped a truck in Çanakkale Province which was carrying 115 Syrians, 26 of which were children, along with 86 life jackets, 37 rubber boats and 10 inflation devices.
