Moussoro, Chad (IINA) - Qatari Red Crescent Society (QRCS) announced on Sunday the completion of building nine-water wells in the Republic of Chad, this project will provide drinkable water for the financially challenged community in Chad, QNA reported.
QRCS have accomplished the $27,250 project in partnership with Chad's Albir Charitable Association. The nine fenced surface water wells, annexed with cattle troughs, are located in towns and districts located between 6 to 85 Kilometers from the town of Moussoro, which is 294 kilometers from Chad’s capital, N'Djamena.
Officials and local communities have attended the opening ceremony. Mayor of Moussoro Issa Abdel-Rahman thanked QRCS on behalf of the Government of Chad.
Albir Charitable Association Chairman Youssef Abbas said, "People of Chad face water crisis even in major cities like N'Djamena and Abeche. Many towns and areas have no water wells. Some towns are located 10 kilometers or more away from the nearest water well".
In the same context, Youssef Abbas urged QRCS to continue supporting water projects in the country, in order to face droughts and water shortages, save many poor people searching for pure water, and reduce serious water-borne diseases such as cholera.
