Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia (IINA) - The Muslim World Congress has begun its activities in the capital of Malaysia's Sabah state Kota Kinabalu on Saturday. Delegates from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Cambodia are participating in the conference.
Adressing the conference, Chief Minister of Sabah state said that the conference aims to spread scientific culture among Muslims in the world in order to regain the past glories of the Islamic nation, as well as to promote the efforts of the Islamic world and disseminate a better image of Islam among the Westerners.
He also pointed out that the world faces a phenomenon called Islamophobia (fear of Islam), but this phenomenon should not stop the Islamic Ummah from spreading the divine religion, noting that "Islam is a religion of mercy, and that it did not teach its adherents to be extremists ".
