Inauguration of Bethlehem industrial park

Bethlehem (IINA) – Palestinian Prime Minister Dr Rami Hamdallah inaugurated on Monday the first stage of Bethlehem industrial park, with the participation of French Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron and the presence of public and official figures.
Hamdallah said the Bethlehem industrial park was established through Palestinian-French strategic and vital partnership, where the Palestinian Industrial Estates and Free Zones Authority (PIEFZA) has developed the external infrastructure of the park, using an estimated amount of 10 million euros of French funding.
"We have entrusted with the development of the park to the Bethlehem Multidisciplinary Industrial Park (BMIP) – a Palestinian-French company – which contributes to the private sector in the two countries, as well as Agence Française de Development (AFD)," he said.
The Prime Minister added that a contract has been concluded with about 16 investors to invest in the industrial park, where the French government will provide financial incentives to support investors, a move considered important to spur investment opportunities and support local production and operation.
Hamdallah pointed out that each industrial job would create seven indirect service jobs, in addition to the direct jobs associated with it, and for that the government has entrusted with Industrial Estates and Free Zones Authority to begin construction of four industrial parks in Bethlehem, Jericho and Jenin in the West Bank.
