Jeddah, (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced that it has started preparations to hold an extraordinary Islamic Summit on Palestine, Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, in light of Israeli continuous policies of violence and oppression and the dead end that the peace talks have reached.
Preparations for the extraordinary summit has begun following confirmation by the Kingdom of Morocco, according to an OIC press statement.
The statement noted that the Chairman of the OIC Al-Quds Committee King Mohammad has always been in the forefront of the cause of Palestine and the protection of the holy city of Jerusalem (Al-Quds Al-Shareef).
OIC is consulting with the relevant authorities in Morocco to determine the date and venue of the summit.
The summit is being convened in response to the call of the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, for an extraordinary summit on Palestine and Al-Quds. The statement ended by noting that the OIC has always given top priority to the Palestinian issue; and will continue its ongoing efforts to mobilize support and backing for the Palestinian people and their just cause on the Islamic and international arenas
