Rabat, (IINA) - In a joint move in combating terrorism, Morocco and Spain arrested on Tuesday 14 people suspected of recruiting extremists and sending them to fight together withISIS, Morocco World News reported.
After a successful antiterrorist operation conducted jointly in Morocco and Spain, aimed at dismantling a network recruiting fighters for ISIS, the two countries, thanks to their security cooperation, arrested the terrorist suspects who were preparing to join ISIS.
Jorge Fernandez Diaz, Spain’s interior ministry, said that Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) and General Commissariat of Information of the Spanish National Police detained the suspects in the outskirts of Madrid and in the Moroccan cities of Fez, Casablanca, Nador and Al Hoceima.
The arrests were linked to “a network sending foreign fighters to join the ranks of the terrorist organization (ISIS) in the Syrian-Iraq regions that it controls,” the ministry statement said.
