Cairo (IINA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Tuesday honored the winners of Egypt's 22nd International and Domestic Holy Qur'an competitions, organized by the Ministry of Awqaf (Endowments) to celebrate Laylat al-Qadr.
During the celebration, some 11 winners, from Egypt and a number of Arab and African countries, were honored by President al-Sisi.
Also, the youngest Holy Qur’an memorizer, with special needs from Egyptian province of Gharbia, was honored in the event, within the framework of Egypt's keenness to encourage memorization of the Holy Qur’an domestically and internationally, in continuation of its leading role in this area, through offering certificates of appreciation and financial awards.
President al-Sisi appealed to the scholars, thinkers, intellectuals, media figures and the people of Egypt as a whole to preserve the Egyptian state, and not to engage into any controversial issues that would divert them from the fundamental issue of their country, which is defending the Egyptian state.
In his speech at the celebration, al-Sisi stressed on the mission of the religious leaders and their responsibility to establish the values of peace, love and appreciation, and to reject disagreement, intolerance and extremism.
