Washington (IINA) – The U.S. authorities have moved Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, who was sentenced to death in the Boston Marathon bombings, to Supermax, the country's most secure federal prison, CNN reported, citing the US Department of Justice.
Tsarnaev had been held in the United States Penitentiary, Florence High (USP Florence High), a high-security US federal prison for male inmates in Colorado.
A federal jury sentenced Tsarnaev to death in May for his involvement in the 2013 bombings at the marathon. Two women and an 8-year-old boy were killed and more than 260 people were injured in the incident.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons was in charge of determining whether Tsarnaev was placed in Supermax or death row at the penitentiary in Terre Haute, Indiana, to wait out the lengthy appeals process.
Supermax prison is home to most notorious criminals in the U.S., such as the September 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.
