Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the King Abdullah International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) signed on Wednesday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their cooperation and partnership in the area of interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
The agreement was signed by OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani and Secretary General of KAICIID Faisal bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar.
The MoU focused on the current global challenges that require more attention and action by all concerned entities, to ensure peaceful coexistence, harmony and interaction among peoples of different societies, through the promotion of interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
Both sides have mutual interests in this regard as they share the belief that dialogue is a major tool in conflict prevention and resolution, sustainable peace, and social cohesion.
Therefore, the Organization and the Center decided to join hands in order to achieve maximal engagement in this field by implementing a series of programs and activities to promote interfaith, intercultural, and inter-civilizational dialogue around the world.
It may be mentioned here that the OIC and KAICIID have been collaborating in many projects in several countries through convening meetings to promote dialogue, tolerance, reconciliation and capacity building in these countries.
