London, (IINA) - British Defence Secretary Michael Fallon has met with Jordanian King Abdullah here on Tuesday. They reviewed important regional developments and issues including tackling ISIL and extremism, as well as the need for enhanced defence cooperation, according to British ministry of defence.
The meeting on Wednesday further reinforced the UK’s commitment to the security of the Middle East and allowed the defence secretary to recognize the key role Jordan is playing in the anti-ISIL global coalition, which is supporting the Iraqi government.
Jordan remains a key ally for the UK in the Middle East as demonstrated by the increased support provided as challenges from Syria and Iraq keep growing. The UK enjoys a particularly strong defence relationship with the Kingdom.
King Abdullah, is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister David Cameron, and a number of other senior officials, and representatives of the Houses of Lords and Commons, as well as politicians, intellectuals and media figures, according to Petra news agency.
