Yemen dialogue conference begins in Riyadh

Riyadh (IINA) – The three-day Yemeni dialogue conference began at the Guest Conference Palace here on Sunday, the Saudi Press Agency reported. Yemeni President Abdrabbu Mansour Hadi, Vice President Khaled Bahah, Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General  Dr. Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani, UN's Special Envoy onYemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, and representatives of Yemeni political groups and blocs, with the exception of the Houthi militias and deposed president Ali Abdullah Saleh are attending the conference.
Aziz al-Jabbari, president of the Consultative Authority for the Conference, said the dialogue would result in effective decisions that would be obligatory for all parties to implement. “The Gulf initiative and the decisions of the U.N. Security Council will be the basis for the talks,” Jabbari said. He also said that the talks are aimed at supporting the legitimacy of state institutions as they are essential to “saving Yemen.” Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman took initiative to host the conference under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) following a request from Yemeni President Hadi.
