Jeddah, (IINA) - President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou and Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani discussed here on Wednesday bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Muslim world.
During the talks, both leaders reviewed a wide range of issues of mutual interest and concern as well as joint Islamic actions. They reviewed the prevailing situations in Palestine, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Mali and the Sahel countries. In the same vein, discussions focused also on combating violent extremism and terrorism.
From his side, OIC Secretary General Madani briefed the president on the activities and initiatives of the OIC in various domains including the planned extraordinary summit on Palestine, the science and technology summit, the emergency ministerial meeting on Yemen, and the forthcoming council of foreign ministers (CFM) meeting in Kuwait in the end of this month.
President Issoufou expressed satisfaction over various peace initiatives undertaken by the Organization, and assured Madani of the continued support of Niger.
