OIC General Secretariat delegation visits Libya on fact-finding mission

Tripoli (IINA) – A delegation from the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) visited Libya from 27-30 April on a fact-finding mission and to meet government officials and representatives of tribal notables and the civil society.
The four-day visit comes to underscore the OIC support for the unity of Libya and for the preservation of its security, stability and territorial integrity.
The three-member delegation, led by Ambassador Habib Kaabachi, Director of the Political Affairs Department, met with Libya's Premier Abdullah al-Thani, and conveyed to him the OIC's constant position in support of finding a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis through inclusive national dialogue to ensure unity of Libya's territory and ending the plight of its people.
The delegation also held meetings with Undersecretary of the Libyan Foreign Ministry Dr Hassan Saghir, and the chairman and members of the Constitution-drafting Committee, as well as delegation of the Jabal Akhdar's tribal notables and representatives of civil society from Libya's eastern region.
The Libyan officials, representatives of the tribes and the civil society welcomed the OIC role to find a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis.
