WAMY emergency relief campaign
Djibouti (IINA) – The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) Office in Djibouti launched Tuesday an urgent relief campaign for the benefit of those affected by the recent military operations in Yemen, particularly in the city of Aden, which has been severely damaged.
The organization sent a shipment including 100 tons of food aid by sea to Port Brega in Aden City in response to the appeal launched by Djibouti government to charitable and humanitarian organizations to provide immediate assistance to the Yemeni people to overcome their current ordeal.
Mohammed bin Saif, director of Djibouti branch office, said that the humanitarian aid cargo was sent in coordination with both governments of Djibouti and Yemen, adding that more humanitarian assistance will be sent in the coming weeks.
In turn, Yemeni Minister of Social Affairs Dr Sameera Khamis expressed her deep appreciation and gratitude to WAMY for this generous gesture, praising the efforts of Djibouti government to receive and shelter the Yemeni refugees, as well as providing health care for the wounded, who were recently transferred from Aden to Djibouti.
It is noteworthy that Yemen's Minister of Public Works and Roads Wahi Aman, as well as the Saudi and Yemeni ambassadors in Djibouti attended the launch of WAMY emergency relief campaign.
