Baku, (IINA) - President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Laura Tuck, World Bank vice-president for Europe and Central Asia, here during the weekend, Abc.az news reported.
During the meeting, the parties discussed successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the World Bank (WB) in the road transport area, water supply and sanitation sector, solid wastes management and other issues.
It was noted that the WB has already started to cooperate with Azərişıq OJSC (Azerlight) and is working in this direction. The parties also gave high estimation to the projects implemented in the country including ASAN xidmət (Simplified Access to the State Services network) and stressed that cooperation between the WB and ASAN xidmət would be expanded.
At the meeting, the parties also discussed improvement of the business environment in Azerbaijan, successes achieved in economic development in spite of financial crisis in the world, the work of the government on improvement of financial and budget systems, development of the non-oil sector, and achievements in diversification of economy.
They mentioned the reforms implemented in agriculture and export markets determined in accordance with the growing economic potential of the country.
The parties also exchanged their opinions on prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the WB.
