Jeddah (IINA) – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has condemned Monday’s bombing attack in Garowe, the Puntland region of Somalia in which six UNICEF staff were killed and seven others injured.
OIC Secretary General expressed dismay at the continuing senseless assaults by the militant al-Shabaab movement that claimed responsibility for this incident against innocent civilians and UN personnel who were there to contribute to the building of a new Somalia away from its violent past.
While conveying his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, the Secretary General appealed to all international staff in Somalia and the Somali authorities not to be intimidated by the antics of the enemies of peace and progress. He reiterated the importance of international community to sustain their peace building engagement with Somalia.
