Israeli army calls up 13,000 reservists for wide-scale drill in West Bank

Tuesday 03 Mar 2015 - 12:14 Makkah mean time-12-5-1436 (AFP photo) Ramallah (IINA) – The Israeli army has called up more than 13,000 reservists and held urgent training exercises in the West Bank, in what Israeli media outlets said was in preparation of possible escalation with the Palestinians, WAFA reported. Media sources said the surprise training, which took place near Hebron, was to test reservists' alertness and to prepare for a potential escalation in the West Bank. The drills generated mass protests by Palestinians, as well as clashes with the occupation soldiers. The drill came days after Palestinian Authority (PA) officials said they would consider abolishing security cooperation with Israeli authorities over Israel's withholding of Palestinian tax revenues.
