Doha, (IINA) - Qatar Charity (QC) for Community Development Centre held a campaign here entitled ‘Al Aqsa: The Heart of the World’ to introduce the history of Al-Aqsa Mosque and its Islamic heritage, Qatar's The Peninsula daily reported.
The centre’s administration organized educational lectures for different groups of the society, especially the Asian and foreign communities, which are not well informed about the mosque, its religious importance and great history. About 85 women participated in the campaign.
The first lecture was delivered by Maha Abu Watfa, entitled the theme of ‘Blessings of a Land’. Coinciding with Palestinian Land Day, the campaign was inaugurated under the theme ‘For the Destination of All Prophets’.
Palestinian Land Day is celebrated in Palestine on March 30 every year, since 1976 when the occupation authorities confiscated thousands of dunums of Palestinian property in areas where Palestinians were a majority. About the campaign and workshops, Abu Watfa said, “Such lectures and workshops are important for educating the Muslim generations. They can offer proof and evidence from history to show that Al-Aqsa Mosque is the Land of Muslims.”
Some women expressed happiness for attending the lecture and hoped more educational lectures would be held in the future.
They also stressed the importance of choosing topics that meet the interests and issues of the Islamic and Arab nation and raise awareness about the most important incidents.
