Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – Malaysia will be the first country in Southeast Asia to host the three-day World Travel Market (WTM) Connect Asia, beginning from May 18, BERNAMA reported.
Director General of Tourism Malaysia Mirza Mohammad Taiyab Beg said the event, to be held in George Town, the capital city of the Malaysian state of Penang, is in line with the government's objective in establishing the country as a leading business tourism destination.
"This event offers Malaysian sellers an excellent platform to meet international buyers as it will be an ideal platform for those tourism trade industries to network and explore potential partnerships and business opportunities," he said at the WTM Connect Asia 2016 press conference here on Monday.
WTM Connect Asia, expected to receive 300 tourism industry professionals, will attract top quality buyers from the world's leading tour operators such as Swiss travel group Kuoni, China Ctrip and China U-Tour to negotiate and sign business deals with these growing markets.
