Gaza City (IINA) – Zakaria al-Agha, head of the Supreme National Committee to Commemorate the Nakba Day, said that the activities to commemorate the 67th anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba will be launched in the coming days.
Al-Agha said in a press conference in Gaza on Wednesday that the National Committee had endorsed the activities of the provincial committees to be carried out in the Palestinian refugee camps, towns and villages throughout the year with the participation of all factions, civil institutions and popular committees.
Al-Agha said that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will deliver a speech on May 15 to mark the anniversary, stressing the invitation of all Palestinian people to turn out for a mass march in Gaza City on May 16, to be launched from the Square of the Unknown Soldier. He also exhorted the Palestinians to organize mass rallies across the West Bank governorates on May 13, starting from the tomb of the late Palestine leader Yasser Arafat.
The Nakba Day is an annual day of commemoration for the Palestinian people, marking the displacement of more than 700,000 Palestinians from their homes and the brutal acts that accompanied the Israeli occupation of Palestine in 1948. The commemoration is generally held on May 15 each year.
