Kuwait City (IINA) – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday urged Kuwaiti business leaders to pump investments into Turkey, saying: “No foreign investor has ever been disappointed or regretted the investments he made in Turkey”, Anadolu Agency reported.
During his two-day trip to the Gulf state, Erdogan said: "Kuwaiti businessmen's investment in Turkey is worth just under $2 billion. It is far below target."
He told Kuwaiti business leaders at a breakfast meeting that the two countries aimed to increase trade volume from $569 million this year to $1 billion in 2016.
"Kuwait is Turkey's window to the Gulf and Turkey is Kuwait's window to Central Asia and Europe," Erdogan said, describing the relationship between the two states after a meeting with Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The two leaders also discussed conflicts in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Libya and Palestine.
Erdogan highlighted the importance of stability in Yemen and called for political intervention, a Turkish Foreign Ministry source said.
