Sudanese FM Ali Karti

Khartoum (IINA) – Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Ahmed Karti has reiterated his country's support for the Saudi-led “Decisive Storm” operation against the Houthi rebels in Yemen, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

In a press statement, Karti said the Yemeni crisis convinced Arab leaders on the need to establish a joint defense force, citing the approval of the Arab summit, which ended Sunday in Sharm el-Sheikh, of this proposal.

He stressed Sudan's readiness to participate in the Arab joint defense force.

Karti added that his country's participation in the military operation in Yemen was through air force, which launched several raids on the insurgents’ strongholds in the capital Sana’a.

The minister described the recent visit by President Omar Al-Bashir to Saudi Arabia ahead of the opening of the Arab summit, as a success, saying that it was a good opportunity for positive relations with neighboring Arab countries.
