Kuala Lumpur, (IINA) - Bilateral relations between Malaysia and Kuwait are expected to be further strengthened, especially in the economic field, news agencies reported.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador to Malaysia, Saad Abdullah Al Asousi said among the proactive steps to be taken is the setting up of a business council between both countries to further promote trade and investment.

"I hope the Malaysia-Kuwait Business Council to be set up in April can be accredited by the government of Kuwait and Malaysia," Al Asousi told Bernama news agency at Kuwait's 54th National Day and 24th Liberation Day celebration.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador hopes the positive bilateral relations of both countries will continue to be explored.

It is noteworthy that the trade between Kuwait and Malaysia has been going strong, increasing to USD 1.8 billion (RM6.48 billion) in 2014 from RM840 million in 2013.
