Amman (IINA) – Jordan signed Wednesday an agreement with the World Health Organization (WHO) on the establishment of a regional center for handling health emergencies and eradicating polio in the country, Petra reported.

The agreement, which was signed by Jordan’s Secretary General of Foreign Ministry Mohammad Yaseen and WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr. Ala Alwan, aims at setting up a center to provide technical and logistical support to the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean region in emergency preparedness and response. It also aims to ensure effective management of the operations of the emergency programs, including polio eradication.
