Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – The Royal Malaysian Police on Tuesday (PDRM) refuted a rumor claiming that Malaysia is being targeted for attack by a group of terrorists during the Christmas celebration, BERNAMA reported.

ACP Datin Asmawati Ahmad, police chief assistant, said in a statement on Tuesday that the rumor spread through social media and mobile Apps like WhatsApp was false.

“The posting via WhatsApp asks people not to visit the shopping complexes and public places for the time being to avoid any untoward incident,” Ms. Ahmed said.

"It also claims that the government has issued a warning on the matter and is asking the people to be cautious," she added.

In this regard, the public is advised by PDRM not to easily believe such a rumor and not to disseminate or share such false information with others, as the action is not only irresponsible but could also affect public order and their daily activities.
