Malaysia’s economy grows by 5.6% in Q3

Kuala Lumpur (IINA) – Governor of the Central Bank of Malaysia Dr. Zeti Akhtar said that the Malaysian economy grew by 5.6 percent in the third quarter of 2014, compared to 5.0 percent during the same period last year.

“Malaysia GDP expanded by 6.5 percent, compared to 6.4 percent previously,” Dr. Akhtar said.

She noted that the positive growth recorded in all economic sectors, especially the construction sector (9.6 percent), services (6.1 percent), manufacturing (5.3 percent), agriculture (4.0 percent), and mining (1.4 percent).

She said that the private sector remained the key growth driver during the third quarter of 2014, pointing out that inflation rate declined to 3.0 percent.
