Saudi Arabia condemns Israeli aggression

New York, (IINA) - Saudi Arabia has condemned the terrorist and aggressive practices as well as serious violations being committed by Israel against Palestinians, Saudi Gazette reported Wednesday.
Addressing the Security Council’s session on the Middle East, the Kingdom’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Abdullah Al-Moallimi said that Israel was defying international legitimacy without fear of punishment or accountability. He called on the Security Council to compel Israel to end its war crimes and human rights abuses against Palestinians.
“We are meeting here while Israel continues with its terrorist and aggressive practices and serious violations of international law, yet the Security Council has seemingly failed to put an end to Israeli aggression and hold it accountable for this aggression and its repeated crimes against the Palestinian people”, said Al-Moallimi.
He questioned the Israeli claims of its commitment to the two-state solution. “Which two states the occupation force talks about while the settlement expansion is going on unabated, the seizure of land and property continues, the demolition of homes and displacement of families as well as forced eviction and displacement are being carried out relentlessly?”
Al-Moallimi also said that Israel continues to implement its plans of the annexation of Jerusalem, the distortion of its Arab identity and changing its demographic composition and isolating it from its Palestinian surroundings.
Attempts are being made to illegally change Al-Aqsa Mosque and control Islamic and Christianity endowments (Waqf) in Jerusalem.
The ambassador also highlighted the Israeli defiance to hold a session in the occupied Arab Syrian Golan Heights in a critical development of its kind.
He condemned in the strongest terms all Israeli statements and acts of aggression and, calling on the UN to compel Israel to implement the UN resolutions on withdrawal from all occupied Palestinian territories to the borders of 1967 and from all occupied Arab Syrian Golan Heights.
In a related context, he reiterated Saudi Arabia’s full support for the Syrian people. He appealed to the UN Office for Humanitarian Affairs to carry out its assigned role in facilitating the delivery of humanitarian assistance to the affected people in view of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Syria and the continued blockade around many cities and regions.
In addition, Al-Moallimi emphasized that the Kingdom welcomes the French initiative which calls for holding an international peace conference on peace and security in the region.
