Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline
Islamabad (IINA) – Pakistan's Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has affirmed his country's determination to complete project of pipeline pumping natural gas from Iran.
He expected an agreement would be reached in this regard, during a meeting with the Iranian side, scheduled to be held in Tehran next May.
Abbasi said that Pakistan wants to complete the project as soon as possible, and that it is working intensively in this field, stressing his country seeks to complete the project by December 2017, and start importing gas from Iran, Fars News Agency (FNA) reported.
The Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline, also known as the Peace Pipeline, is a 2,775 kilometers long, is being constructed to deliver natural gas from Iran to Pakistan.
It is noteworthy that the Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline agreement was concluded during the reign of Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari (2008–13), but Pakistan suspended the project unilaterally, under the pretext of the international sanctions on Iran.
