OIC condemns Syrian regime's aerial attack on village

Jeddah, (IINA) - The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemned the aerial raid by the Syrian regime in Deir al-Asafir village, south east of Damascus, which led to the killing and injury of dozens of people, the majority of whom were women and children.
In a statement, OIC Secretary General Iyad Ameen Madani denounced the continuation of killings and devastation perpetrated by the regime in violation to the ceasefire and related UN resolutions. He said that such actions hamper the UN efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis on the basis of the statement of the Geneva 1 and UN Security Council Resolutions No. 2258 and 2264.
Madani urged the international community and the UN Security Council to assume its responsibilities in ending these crimes and protect the Syrian people.
He also highlighted the need to respect the cessation of hostilities agreement and focus on a peaceful solution as the only way to end the conflict in Syria.
