Rabat, (IINA) - Morocco and Germany signed here on Tuesday a declaration of intent to reinforce economic and political cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries and promote investment in renewable energy in Morocco, Morocco World News reported.
Under this declaration, signed on the sidelines of an economic roundtable on the investment climate in the energy sector in Morocco, both parties emphasized that the energy transition in both countries should be considered globally. The declaration was signed by Morocco's Energy, Mines, Water and Environment Minister Abdelkader Amara and Germany's Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister of Economy and Energy Sigmar Gabriel.
The steering committee and working groups of the energy partnership are mandated to prepare a work plan with concrete goals.
This work plan shall also include the development of a prospective vision of Morocco in the energy planning by 2050 (energy scenarios), taking into account of the marine STEP, offshore wind and the joint organization of a side-event during the COP22, scheduled for November 2016 in Marrakech.
